Showcase Irish Dance Performance
Choreographed and directed by former world touring Riverdance stars Shane McAvinchey and Paula Goulding, and featuring our inaugural dancers, you will have the opportunity to witness a preview of the American Irish Dance Company's future repertoire slated for a 2016 summer and fall tour.
Expect to be transfixed by this early performance of Milwaukee's newest Irish dance troupe during one of three performances January 22-23 at Wehr Hall, Alverno College.
The Greater Milwaukee region is home to a strong Irish community. This is demonstrated by the wide range of cultural, educational, and historical resources and events that promote Irish heritage. Complementing this dynamic representation of Irish culture is the addition of the American Company of Irish Dance, the region's only independent not-for-profit Irish dance company.
The American Company of Irish Dance isn't profit driven, but rather seeks to elevate the art form, introduce Irish culture to a wider audience, and grow the discipline, confidence and character of its dancers.
As a Milwaukee-based performing arts group, the American Company of Irish Dance provides local professional opportunities for local dancers who wish to perform after their competitive days are over.
The American Company of Irish Dance is working with creative directors, Shane McAvinchey and Paula Goulding, (former world touring Riverdance stars and choreographers) who bring a refreshing and inspiring method of mentorship to the dancers. Paula and Shane are also known throughout the world of Irish Dance because of their very successful the Take the Floor Show project held in Ireland since 2012.
The Company roster includes championship dancers from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ohio, Arkansas, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida, and Canada.
