CONTORTION CONTROL: STRETCHING THE LIMITS** WITH DR. MISTY ROSE AUSTIN
Acrobatic flexibility may be aesthetically advantageous, but instability may put acrobats & pole dancers at risk for injury. In addition to flexibility, safe contortion requires the ability to control the spine & joints dynamically through movement. Learn the difference between flexibility and instability, and find out how to protect the hypermobile body while getting longer & stronger.

Highly recommended for contortionists, aerialists, pole artists, and instructors.

**Dr. Misty Rose Austin** is a passionate and well qualified instructor & physical therapist.  Full-time Misty works as a sports & performing arts physical therapist, and is well versed in treating a wide range of professional & amateur performers including: dancers, musicians, vocalists, acrobats, puppeteers, & artistic athletes.

She graduated from the University of Queensland Australia with a master's in physiotherapy, her education additionally includes a bachelor's degree in kinesiology, a doctorate in hand & upper extremity therapy, comprehensive mat & equipment Pilates certification; with expertise & extensive training in manual therapy. With 15 years of experience as a fitness trainer she has dedicated her life to health, healing, & fitness.  She loves fitness and believes it should be safe & enjoyable to work out; for fun she loves instructing Aerialates & pole fitness classes, dancing, rock-climbing, and training aerial arts.

She is the '09 North Star "Miss Fitness" winner, performs with the acrobatic group "Cirque du Pôle", & is the creator of the dance science pole teacher training program "Pole Art Athletics".
