Please join us on January 21, Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30pm at the WA State Labor Council (at the corner of S. Jackson and 16th) to learn more about Allyship's 2016 statewide legislative agenda around LGBTQ housing and economic equity policies. In addition, we will provide a training and tips on how to lobby your legislator! The meeting space is wheelchair accessible. Register today for this free event: http://2016lgbtqlegagenda.bpt.me/

This event is sponsored by the Pride Foundation, Seattle Children's Hospital, SEIU 775 and UFCW 21. For more information, please contact Allyship's Community Facilitator, Denechia Powell, at info@allyship.org or 206.428.1986.

How we chose our legislative priorities:

In Allyship's 2015 LGBTQ Safety Survey, we asked our community to identify solutions to increasing public safety and 64% stated increasing affordable housing as a key component to increasing LGBTQ public safety. 73% of Seattle survey participants were renters, 68% of participants lived paycheck to paycheck or worse, 63% have recently experienced a safety issue and 74% of participants identified as transgender, bisexual or queer. Our survey found that LGBTQ seniors, youth, low-income, transgender, women and People of Color are disproportionately impacted by a lack of affordable and low-income housing in Seattle and throughout the state. In 2016, we will fight for the state's most marginalized LGBTQ folks in Olympia -- we hope you will take action with us!
