Beyond the Basics COMMUNITY WIDE SURVIVE AND THRIVE DAY#2 MONDAY Nov23!
Maine Forest Yurts-100 acres of Forest and Adventure!
Durham, ME
Share this event:

Come join our outdoor experiential learning adventure without a weekly commitment!  This is a day of body and mind Challenges, science education, outdoor recreation and community for all!  A Core Group of Kids meets weekly at Maine Forest Yurts for an experiential hands-on science adventure..   On Survive and Thrive Days we invite everyone to come experience the fun of our Challenges theme:  emphasis on developing out of the box thinking, creativity, and getting experience facing all kinds of challenges.  These are a mixture of Survivor and survival challenges and some just spontaneous ones like nothing else! Some challenges are individual others involve teamwork. Pick the ones you want to do and or watch.  All are intended to build self confidence, creative thinking and problem solving. All will be approached with a learning intent, discussing what we noticed worked and didn't... And trying again.  The scientific method and supportive rather than competitive intent.

Our science and challenge topics this week will prepare you for serious winter adventures!!!

Designed for ages 11 and up, we welcome those 8-10 on Community Day.  Adults and kids over 8 can take part in the challenges, though under 11 will definitely need support by a parent.
In addition, there will be an hour for recreation and lunch on site, to just enjoy the outdoors.

Please bring picnic lunches, good footwear, winter layering of clothes: non-cotton first layer, middle layer, weather proof outer coat.  Hats, hand gear are not optional in the woods.   We do make warming fires and spend time inside the yurts and log cabin-this isn't the real Survivor-no suffering!  Folding chairs, thermos of something hot, binoculars, and a camera are lovely luxury items you might consider.

At Maine Forest Yurts in Durham Maine, just 30 minutes from Portland.

Kids tickets $25 age 8 and up.  This includes the required adult that will accompany them.   Younger sibs are free to come wander the 100 acres with a parent and watch the shenanigans!   Extra adult guests or those staying with youngers please click "extra adult ticket" link for your ticket. (we believe you will have a grand time, too and this covers our extra expenditures to make this friendly to multiage families.). Can't wait to see you!
