Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits Barrel Aged Beer & Chocolate Pairing
Ballast Point Brewing and Spirits along with So Rich Chocolates come together again for San Diego Beer Week. We want to give our customers the opportunity to pair handcrafted Ballast Point barrel aged beers with locally handcrafted chocolates.
Barrel aged beer and chocolate offerings:
1.Victory at Rum: Our delicious Imperial Porter with a blend of cold steeped Cafe Calabria Coffee and Vanilla beans. Time aged in Ballast Point Rum Oak Casks for 6 to 12 months. The aging process produces significant warm dark fruited candy aroma notes from the rum. A soft oak backbone with over accentuated creaminess from the vanilla and smoked barrel flavors follow.
Pairing:
Dark Chocolate Toffee with Sea Salt
2.Heaven Hills Bourbon Barrel Aged Indra Kunindra: created by spicing the beer post fermentation with the perfect amounts of madras curry, cumin, cayenne, coconut, and Kaffir lime leaf. Then aged inside a Heaven Hills Bourbon Whiskey barrels for 8 months. Smooth nutty bourbon notes and hints of oak appear which definitely gives you a chance to taste Indra Kunindra with a twist.
Pairing:
Extra Smokey White dipped Chipotle Toffee.
3.Rum Bourbon Victory at Marlin with a hint of Tart Cherries: Black Marlin Porter is aged in our own Ballast Point Rum barrels for 8 months then blended with a specific amount of Heaven Hills Bourbon Barrel Aged Victory at Sea aged for 12 months. The combination of both beers are blended with the perfect amount of tinctured Tart Cherries delivering a well rounded and complexed hint of tart sweetness.

Peanut Butter Brix and Dark Chocolate Caramel dipped in milk chocolate topped with dried cranberries
