BTAT Presents "God of Carnage"
The first ever teen production of Yasmina Raza's Tony Award winning comedy, God of Carnage is being produced by The Boston Teen Acting Troupe this May. This will be the first time in the show's history that God of Carnage will be acted, directed, produced, designed and run completely by teens.

Under the careful direction of two-time METG Award winner Jack Serio, the all-star, teenage cast of Brendan Caulfield (Allen Raleigh), Minh-Y Tran (Annette Raleigh), Kyle Jackson (Michael Novak) and Abby Ryan (Veronica Novak) will take on the daunting task of performing as two highly-strung couples in a 90-minute laugh-out-loud comedy hailed as a "four-way prize fight" by The New York Times.

Alan Raleigh (Caulfield) and his wife Annette (Tran) visit the apartment of Michael and Veronica Novak (Jackson and Ryan, respectively) for what all believe will be a civil discussion about how best to deal with a playground fight between their two sons. With fissures in the friendliness evident from the start, the meeting quickly degenerates as the four spiral into irrational arguments and the loaded topics of misogyny and racial prejudice. Insults fly and the fault lines split open altogether, allowing free rein to "the god of carnage," in whom Alan admits proudly to believe. Loyalty to one's spouse becomes a disposable commodity. Spouses turn on spouses and new alliances are formed and dissolved in an event The New Yorker called "ninety minutes of sustained mayhem."

Originally Le Dieu du Carnage in French, Reza's play was first produced in English in London in March 2008, in a translation by Christopher Hampton, where it won the Olivier Award for Best New Comedy. God of Carnage also enjoyed critical acclaim on Broadway, playing for 476 performances and winning the Tony, Outer Critics Circle and Drama League awards for Best Play.

The artistic team includes Jack Serio (Artistic Director & Scenic Design), Robert Hillman (Stage Manager), Jason Clark (Assistant Stage Manager), David Gentile (Lighting Design), Jay Holland (Costume Design) and Jay Ricco (Sound Design). Ritchie Sullivan is our Managing Director.

Founded in January of 2011, The Boston Teen Acting Troupe prides themselves in performing professional quality teen theatre productions. Searching to break the cliche of bad high school productions, the BTAT takes on challenging plays in an effort present Boston's incredibly talented teen actors and designers to a public audience.
