High Society
High Society is the 1998 stage musical adaptation of the Katherine Hepburn play and film "The Philadelphia Story." First musicalized as a 1956 film with Grace Kelly with a Cole Porter score, the stage production rounds out the show's song list with other Porter classics. Set in 1938 at the second wedding of its heroine, the Oyster Bay heiress Tracy Samantha Lord, things go awry when expected guests show up, including Tracy's first husband Dexter and a pair of reporters sent to cover the weekend for a gossip magazine. The show is choreographed by Emily Rodgers, music-directed by Alex Newkirk, and directed by Department Chair Andy Robinson. The show features 23 students from the Department of Musical Theatre along with four students from outside the department.
