Britannia
For our fall concert series "Britannia" on November 21 & 22, The Renaissance Project will focus on sacred works by composer Thomas Tallis as well as the evolution of the the British secular choral art form. One of the fathers of British Renaissance music, Tallis was a master at composing exquisite vocal lines as well as highlighting the beautiful and unique harmonies produced within these fluid melodies. Along with a set of fun British madrigals, we also invite you to explore the more contemporary side to the British choral literature with masterpieces by Ralph Vaughan Williams and John Rutter. We will also perform two uplifting versions of the classic Exultate Deo by Palestrina and Scarlatti, as well as three stunning choral works by Anton Bruckner, a Romantic-era Austrian composer who took inspiration from Renaissance masters. We hope to see you there!
