Event
Suffragettes in the Spotlight
On this Art Shot, designed to run alongside the critically acclaimed film 'Suffragette' we'll walk with the long-suffering and militant suffragettes to learn about the heroines of the movement, the male establishment they were up against, and how they used art - and the destruction of it - to promote their cause.
Starting in the National Portrait Gallery we'll discuss Emmeline Pankhurst and Emily Davison and look at the attempted destruction of Thomas Carlyle's portrait. Walking across Trafalgar Square, we'll re-live the famous suffrage demonstrations before learning how 'Slasher Mary' attacked one of the most sensuous nudes in the National Gallery with a meat cleaver.
*If you have bought more than one Art Shot ticket you can Either split them up and come on a number of different Art Shots Or you can give tickets to friends to join the same Art Shot as you Please email info@arthistoryuk.com to tell us how you'd like to use your Art Shot tickets.
