Not just your grandma's craft anymore The age-old craft has made a comeback in recent years, with 38 million people knitting nationwide. Learning to knit is fun, creative and benefits children in a variety of ways. Knitting likely offers many of the same health benefits to your brain that have been associated with brain games and crossword puzzles, which are known to boost memory and cognitive function. Teaching kids to knit isn't just a fun activity; it's also calming, benefits children in school with math and literacy, and can lead to wonderful projects. And, because knitting uses the right and the left hand, knitting engages both sides of the brain. Knitting also has significant psychological and social benefits, which can contribute to wellbeing and quality of life.
