The Great Fire of London: 350th Anniversary
On this day, 350 years ago, the Great Fire of London broke out in a bakery on Pudding Lane. Charting the route of the crackling blaze, our pilgrimage will start at Christopher Wren's impressive Monument. We'll go on to visit St Magnus Martyr, London Bridge, the Mansion House, the Guildhall, the Worshipful Company of Firefighters and finally St Paul's Cathedral. We'll read diary entries written by Samuel Pepys and John Evelyn, will discuss the reaction of King Charles II and will see how Wren built a new Baroque City from the smouldering ashes.
