Slow Food Orange County Farm Tour
Join us on Saturday, November 3rd as we get back to basics with our food and tour Morning Song Farms with proprietor Donna Buono. Donnas farm is known for the excellence of its organic produce and adventurous selection of heirloom varieties.
Well start our day at 8:45am in the Parking Lot of Old Vine Cafe in Costa Mesa (located in The Camp Shopping Plaza at the corner of Bristol & Baker St.). Chef Brandon MacDonald enjoys a special partnership with Morning Song farm. Well check in with Mark in the morning for a brief chat about whats special about Morning Song produce and how he incorporates an always changing supply of seasonal ingredients into his menu.
Next well pass out maps and get our caravan going to the farm. Rainbow is about an hour and half from Costa Mesa so expect a bit of a drive.
After meeting up at the farm, well take a tour of the grounds and learn about the many heirloom and organic crops Donna grows at Morning Song. Donna always has great ideas for preparing food at home using her bountiful produce. Well gather in the farmhouse as Donna demonstrates how to make a few quick favorites such as homemade butter and melon sorbet. Then well enjoy a filling but informal lunch including: Homemade butter w/bread, Sauteed fresh veggies, Salad with Garden Greens & Herbs, Sandwiches from Old Vine Cafe with house-made chips, Melon Sorbet, Donna's Mint Infused Lime-aid
