SRP, JANELLE PHILLIPS, ALOHA RADIO AND WAKANE
Skanks Roots Project is a reggae group formed from musicians around California. The group formed as a collaboration idea of Dj Skanks and musician, producer, E.N Young (member of Tribal Seeds). SRP consist of Eddie Blunt (High Tide), J. Rips (KeepItLit), Danny Dread (Roots Covenant), Chris Murray (High Tide), Sam Guest, Mike E.P, Zena Kurnosoff (Irie Sun) and have regular guest appearances by Lexy Love and Animo. All members have met over the past few years at one point or another during shows and recording sessions. They formed as an official group at the end of 2012 at Imperial Sound Recording Studio in Southern California. Combining that San Diego roots vibe that Blunt, Young, and Dread bring to the table and lacing it with the NorCal flavor of Skanks, Rips, and Animoit truly is a west coast bridge blessed by Jah!
New music coming from rising female reggae artist Janelle Phillips. She is currently working with E.N Young from the San Die...go Award Winners for "Best World Music," Tribal Seeds. E.N is a producer with his own independent label, Roots Musician Records (Imperial Sounds). Janelle's EP, LIONESS is expected to come out in the Spring.
ALOHA RADIO Keeping one foot on the beach and stepping the other into the street, Aloha Radio's music captures the pulse of Southern Cal...ifornia. This crew of four friends from Orange County, have created their own brand of west coast rock with heavy grooves and catchy melodies.
Wakane' has shared her heartfelt talent with the world from a very young age, acting and singing throughout mainland Japan a...nd Okinawa since age 3, where she was born on the Ryukyu Island. Along with being a sought after vocal and choreography instructor of performing arts, Wakane' also hosted a local radio show and appeared on many TV shows in the area. Artistically, many say she has an old soul due to her love for the greats from the Motown era and her ability to capture inspiration through their energy.
As her career progressed, Wakane' had the privilege to open for numerous artists with her female singing group in 2002, including Boys to Men, Monica, Outkast, Usher, and KC & JoJo, who performed for the Military USO Tours throughout Japan and Okinawa.
Wakane' believes that music is not just something you listen to, it's the expression of the artist. Her own expression comes deep from her Okinawan roots, as well as from her strong love for the island rhythms of Hawaii. Wakane' is fluent in both Japanese and Okinawan and also sings in Hawaiian, allowing the passion and mana in her voice to be recognized and admired.
