Away/Home: Miolina Presents the Immigrant Stories Behind the Music @ City Lore
Miolina (Mioi Takeda & Lynn Bechtold) use music and video to explore the stories behind composers' music: what their influences are, based on where they are from, and what they've learned along the way. Each piece is reflective of "Melting Pot" theory vs. "Salad Bowl" theory in terms of how composers consciously and subconsciously incorporate customs and music of various cultures into their music. With guest artist Jennifer DeVore, cello.
