Uprisings: From Kashmir to Egypt to Wall Street
On Wednesday, November 9th, please join us for an evening with one of America's most tireless and wide-ranging investigative journalists, David Barsamian.  For the past 25 years Barsamian has altered the independent media landscape, both with his weekly radio show Alternative Radio (www.alternativeradio.org) and with his books, written with Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Tariq Ali, Arundhati Roy and Edward Said. His latest book of interviews with Noam Chomsky is How the World Works (Aug. 2011).  The Institute for Alternative Journalism named him one of its "Top Ten Media Heroes."   He is the winner of the ACLU's Upton Sinclair Award for independent journalism.  Barsamian was deported from India in September of 2011 due to his work on Kashmir and other revolts, discusses world affairs, the state of journalism, censorship, the economic crisis and global rebellions.  Sponsored by Elliott Bay Books, KUOW and Alternative Radio.  Alternative Radio's weekly 1-hour program of interviews and speeches by Noam Chomsky, Arundhati Roy, Howard Zinn and others can be heard on Wednesdays at 8pm on KUOW, Saturdays at 6am on KEXP, and Sundays at 7am on KSER.  Town Hall Seattle lower meeting room -- at the corner of 8th Street and Seneca in downtown Seattle, 7:30 pm. Free/Donations appreciated at the door.  Please RVSP with www.BrownPaperTickets.com, we apologize that this computer program requires putting in a name and address, usually needed for on-line ticket sales, we just wanted to get a head count prior to the event.  Please feel free to make up a name and address if you are concerned about privacy, or skip this RVSP and just show up at the door.
