Manhattan SWAB & Hudson River Park Trust Clean Sanctuary Campaign Cocktails
Part of the mission of the SWAB is to assure a clean environment for our community. Please join us on November 9th, 2011, to celebrate the Hudson River Park's Clean Sanctuary Campaign. This year through the efforts of the Hudson River Park Trust, many volunteers, and the SWAB, the Hudson River Park collected over 2,000 pounds of trash and recyclables from the Hudson River. Volunteers sorted the material, assuring that anything that could be recycled was recycled- a truly incredible clean-up effort!

We will also be celebrating the success of the SWAB's 2010 Composting Grant Program run in collaboration with the Office of Manhattan Borough President Scott M. Stringer and Citizen Committee for New York City. The program, partially funded by the SWAB, awarded $15,000 worth of grants to 25 organizations wishing to start or expand their neighborhood composting programs.

We are eager to continue supporting composting and clean-ups. We need your support to keep these important programs running.  Please join us for cocktails while we enjoy the beautiful view from the Bank of America Tower's 48th floor.  Mingle with some of the heroes of the Hudson River Park Clean Sanctuary Campaign and learn about the progress of the SWAB's Composting Grant Program from the awardees themselves.

All proceeds of the event will go towards Manhattan SWAB's programs and the Hudson River Park Trust Clean Sanctuary Campaign.

About the SWAB

The Solid Waste Advisory Board of Manhattan is a non-profit, non-governmental organization who's members are appointed by the Manhattan Borough President's Office. The mission of the SWAB is to advance recycling and solid waste policies within New York City, and specifically Manhattan, that improve the local quality of life, increase recycling rates, reduce the impact of solid waste on the environment and provide guidance to decision makers on progressive recycling policies.

About Hudson River Park

Hudson River Park, spanning five miles along Manhattan's Hudson River waterfront from 59th Street to Battery Place, is Manhattan's largest open space development since the creation of Central Park nearly 150 years ago.  The Park includes 150 acres of uplands, recreational fields, a waterside esplanade, over a dozen reconstructed public access piers, and nearly 400 acres of legislatively designated estuarine sanctuary.

Hudson River Park Trust, the public benefit corporation charged with the design, construction and operation of Hudson River Park, was created through a partnership between New York State and City.  The Trust operates on a model of financial selfsufficiency, supporting its staff as well as the operations and maintenance of the Park through income generated within its footprint by rents from commercial tenants, fees, concession revenues, grants and donations.

Hudson River Park's Clean Sanctuary Campaign provides an opportunity for the public to take a hands-on approach to environmental stewardship by helping to remove debris from the river's edge.  This year-round volunteer and education program assists Park staff in caring for the waters of the Park's Estuarine Sanctuary.
