Lucy Ward 2015
BBC award winner Lucy Ward with her full band performing songs from her brand new album, 'I Dreamt I Was A Bird', plus everything else you expect from this favourite of the UK folk and acoustic music scene. Singer songwriter Lucy Ward is a consummate performer who delights audiences with her beautiful voice, the depth and originality of her song writing and her witty and warm stage persona. To celebrate the release of 'I Dreamt I Was A Bird' Lucy will be accompanied by a band of stellar musicians; giving her stunning and insightful songs the full sonic treatment. You can expect outstanding musicianship, passion and warmth from this brilliant artist and her band. After winning the BBC Radio 2 Folk Horizon Award (Best Newcomer) in 2012, Lucy's career has gone from strength to strength, establishing her as one of the hottest performers on the UK acoustic scene. She's played festivals and venues all over the UK, Germany and Holland as well as dates in Canada and Spain. She has played not one, but two, main stages at Glastonbury Festival and has written for film and theatre. Her elevation to the very top of the folk ladder was acknowledged with a nomination for the BBC Folk Singer of the Year Award in February 2014. Lucy is the youngest artist ever to be nominated for this award. Lucy has released two successful albums on Navigator Records. Her debut album 'Adelphi Has To Fly', released in 2011, was met with widespread critical acclaim. She was named by MOJO as "Britfolk's most vibrant and forthright new young talent" and attracted four-star reviews from The Guardian and Maverick Magazine among others. Her follow-up album 'Single Flame' (2013) made the UK Independent Music Charts and received brilliant reviews from the national music press, with Spiral Earth Magazine suggesting it was; "One of the albums of the year for sure." This was acknowledged at the end of 2013 when 'Single Flame' came second in the MOJO Folk Album of the Year Chart and four-star reviews in The Guardian and The Mirror. Lucy's hotly anticipated third album is set to keep her career soaring. 'Inspiring' Billy Bragg "Lucy, is a breath taking presence on stage. Her unpretentious outlook and warmth melts the hearts of audiences. Her disarming personality, pitch perfect delivery and the maturity of her songs can reduce an audience to tears, but a Lucy Ward set will always send you away feeling uplifted."
