Courting Vampires
Clockwise Theatre is proud to present "Courting Vampires" by Laura Schellhardt, directed by Gift ensemble member and Jeff-nominated actress Alexandra Main. Featuring Norma Serna, Christina Thodos, and David Thomases, "Courting Vampires" is a Midwestern Gothic tale which travels from courtroom to courtyard to graveyard, as a tangle of love, lust, and loyalty enmeshes two sisters fighting a mysterious opponent.
Two sisters, the analytical and controlled Rill and the expressive and explosive Nina, are bookends of emotion. Tasking herself with controlling her uncontrollable sister, Rill finds herself becoming both prosecutor and protector. Traveling through a universe populated by different men, a doctor, a lover, a lover-in-waiting, and a father, each sister and her choices collide off the other, creating an explosive chain of events.
Having just appeared in Gift Theatre's "Cloud 9," director Alexandra Main helms this production which features Norma Serna (who also appeared in Clockwise's "Kita y Fernanda"), Christina Thodos (last seen in Clockwise's "Special Needs"), and recent Northwestern graduate David Thomases. Featuring towering video screens, pillars, and funereal biers, Clockwise's production of Schellhardt's "Courting Vampires" will pull audiences into the mysterious, dark and compelling world created by one of our country's most exciting and gifted playwrights.
