Slagel Family Farm Tour & Dinner with The Publican
Come join us on the Farm for a Farm Tour and Dinner August 20th 2011. This is a great outing for you and your family! Want to see where your food comes from? Here is a great opportunity for that. LouisJohn Slagel will begin the afternoon with a tour of his livestock farm. Guests will see a variety of livestock and learn about the old fashioned production practices the Slagels use to produce their farm fresh meat products.

After the farm tour will be a cutting demonstration at Slagel Family Meats performed by Publicans Head Butcher Erling Wu-Bower. Erling will be demonstrating how to butcher a hog carcass into retail cuts. He will show you where your different cuts of meat come from and give you some ideas on the best way to prepare them!

Following the Cutting Demonstration a dinner will be served family style in a new barn next to the livestock pastures. The dinner will be prepared and served by Guest chefs Paul Kahan & Brian Huston of Publican.  

Please BYOB, lemonade and water will be provided. We will have Slagel Family Farm products for you to purchase on the farm to take home with you! Bring a cooler to store your products in for the trip home.

Bus transportation will be provided to and from Chicago. The pickup location will be @ 837 W. Fulton Market Chicago, IL 60607 @ 12:00 noon on August 20th.
