Home Cheesemaking @ Sundance Natural Foods
Open the windows, roll up your sleeves and celebrate summer with a home cheesemaking class led by Louella Hill, The San Francisco Milk Maid. Class will be held in the kitchen of Sundance Natural Foods in Eugene, OR.
In this 2-hour lesson, you'll learn the basics of cheesemaking as Louella demonstrates how to make cloud-like ricotta, rich creme fraiche and easy havarti. She'll talk about rennet, cultures and the right milk to buy. You'll taste an example from each recipe as Louella talks about pitfalls to avoid, easy tricks, shelf life, serving ideas and more.
In addition to the tasting of just-made cheeses, you'll also enjoy a tasting of local artisan cheese favorites along with a glass of wine from Sundance Cellars. After class, Black Sun Books will have copies of Louella's just-published book on home cheesemaking, Kitchen Creamery, for sale. Louella will be signing copies.
