IMANI JUNETEENTH BOOKFAIR #2 AT REFORMATION CHURCH-CHICAGO
Back by popular demand, phase 2 of IMANI JUNETEENTH BOOKFAIR, assembles Saturday, June, 20, 2015, 12 Noon-to-10 PM at Roseland/Pullman's Reformation Church-Chicago. JUNETEENTH #2 features the penultimate set of weekend book fair events consisting of its 12 Noon-to-2PM panel with the independent, Africana authors and publishers, PERSPECTIVIST WRITERS GROUP-represented by authors Obi (L. C. Redmond Jr), Paris Smith, Warren W. Holmes and Arline Jones. Phase 2 of the 1st Annual Africana book fair continues with its distinguished 2 PM-4 PM Black activist Panel on the compelling topic: JUNETEENTH, DR. KING, & THE REPARATIONS MOVEMENT TODAY. The thought-provoking panel features Judge Lionel Jean Baptiste, Chicago's foremost legal authority on Black reparations; Kamm Howard, Chapter Chair of N'COBRA-Chicago; Cecile Johnson, the City's premier voice of Pan-Africanism in the Garvey tradition; Harold Davis Jr, Black Talk Radio Host extraordinary; and Rev. Joel Washington (Khunanpu Sangoma), Lead Pastor of Reformation Church-Chicago-"Young Barack Obama's community organizing sanctuary and emerging Shrine of All African Saints."
The Far South Side Juneteenth cultural event concludes with a 5 PM-to-10 PM IMANI JUNETEENTH STEPPERS SET & CONTEST conducted by Lonnie Lewis and Friends with special guests: Raymond Smith, author of the "Righteous Ray Ray" Young Readers Book Series; Erin Goseer Mitchell, author of "Born Colored (Life Before Bloody Sunday);" and Karen Ford, author of "Thoughts of a Fried Chicken Watermelon Women."
