Awaken:Let Global Justice Roll
From mobilizing the world's first action for the legal recognition of same sex marriages in 1969, to its current work in creating safe space, dialogue, and supporting local intersectional justice efforts in Africa, the Caribbean, China, Latin America, and Eastern Europe, Metropolitan Community Churches (MCC) have a long history in the struggle for LGBTQ rights. We are hosting this event as part of a larger fundraising campaign in order to renew and strengthen our relationship with the global MCC denomination and support its global justice efforts.
About our Speaker: Winner of the ACLU'S National Civil Liberties Award, Co-Founder of Soulforce, Former MCC pastor, professor, filmmaker, ghostwriter, and author of Stranger at the Gate to be Gay and Christian in America and Grace and Demion: A Fable for Victims of Biblical Intolerance, Member National Council of Elders, "Leaders of 20th century civil rights and justice movements."
