SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS
Live outdoor theatre returns to The Mount this summer! Drawn directly from the classic Grimm's Brothers story and adapted by Eric Hill, this premiere work will delight children and adults of all ages as they discover within the gorgeous backdrop of The Mount's new outdoor amphitheatre, the perfect home of the legendary Seven Dwarfs.
As the sun sets in the distance, you will be transported into the elegant tale of Snow White, fairest in the land as she and her faithful companions triumph over evil. An idyllic setting and a timeless fairy tale come together this summer at The Mount. The Mount will NOT provide chairs so patrons are encouraged to bring blankets; lawn chairs will be permitted. Refreshments will be available for purchase prior to the start of the show.
**In the event of inclement weather, the performance will be subject to delay or cancellation. No refunds will be issued; instead, patrons will be offered free tickets to a future performance.
About The Mount The Mount is both a historic site and a center for culture inspired by the passions and achievements of Edith Wharton. Designed and built by Edith Wharton in 1902, the house embodies the principles outlined in her influential book, "The Decoration of Houses" (1897). The property includes three acres of formal gardens designed by Wharton, who was also an authority on European landscape design, surrounded by extensive woodlands. Programming at The Mount reflects Wharton's core interests in the literary arts, interior design and decoration, garden and landscape design, and the art of living.
About Berkshire Theatre Festival/The Colonial Theatre The Colonial Theatre, founded in 1903, and Berkshire Theatre Festival, founded in 1928, are two of the oldest cultural organizations in the Berkshires. Having united in November of 2010 under the helm of Artistic Director and CEO Kate Maguire, these two institutions are providing the Berkshires and beyond with the finest in live theatre, music, dance and the visual arts on three stages in Stockbridge, MA and Pittsfield, MA. The Fitzpatrick Main Stage (408 seats), cataloged by the National Register of Historic Places, was originally designed and built by Stanford White as the Stockbridge Casino in 1888. The intimate Unicorn Theatre (122 seats) is a home for emerging artists and new theatrical ideas. The Colonial in Pittsfield (800 seats) re-opened in August of 2006, following a $21 million restoration, and boasts pristine acoustics, classic gilded age architecture and state-of-the-art technical systems. Together they serve over 100,000 patrons per year and reach over 10,000 students through their educational and outreach programs.
