theTABLE: Transgender NJ, Making the Cultural Transition
theTABLE: food, arts, culture, politics, and community, in an environment free from assumptions and formal constraints; a thoughtful space where curiosity is required and conversation is encouraged.
Join us for this months installment of theTABLE, where we tackle the very current and relevant topic of gender identity and transition and how the story is being told in American media. As always we will look at the issue through the lens of the artists who are sharing the stories of queer identity both nationally and at a very local central New Jersey community level. How is the #CallmeCaitlin viral social media campaign influencing the conversation? How are large local organizations, like Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, setting national trends in staff development and patient education? Who are the local voices speaking out for quality of life for transgender persons, and how will local artists play a role in the future?
