Antenna presents: SET SAIL FOR NEPAL - Boat party fundraiser!
Antenna returns, raising funds for a grassroots NGO on the front line of the struggle to sustain and rebuild communities in Nepal after the quakes.
This time we have a really amazing venue... a beautiful triple decked Dutch barge on the Thames near Westminster. The Tamesis Dock have kindly agreed to waive their rental fee for this fundraiser.
LINE UP SO FAR:
Flamingods (DJ SET) - 'fusing together Asian polyphonic textures, African rhythms, and the occasional pop sensibility into something of a freak-folk blush'
Phobophobes (live) - 'Dirty gritty psychedelia with an evil twist'
Antenna DJ's - Funk / Soul / Afrobeat / Disco / Latin / Dub / Hip Hop / Jungle / Drum and Bass / Techno and everything else fine and good
More music and other fun shit TBC!!
Now more about the organisation we'll be coming together to support:
The Kamala Foundation for Women and Children is a Nepali / Canadian partnership, which aims to 'improve the lives of women and children through community-focused and culturally appropriate preventative programs designed to address their holistic needs, and to 'empower communities to be economically, agriculturally and environmentally self-sustainable'. Now of course though they are focusing all their efforts on the urgent post-quake relief needs. From a recent facebook update:
'The upcoming monsoon season is looming and the most pressing need has become shelter. Zac has partnered with some of his contacts and put together an action plan to begin providing shelter solutions that are affordable, sustainable and attainable. More details on this will be coming soon...'
Let's help them out!
