Beyond Sibling Rivalry
Conflict and competition between siblings is among the greatest challenges in raising a family. Witnessing one child verbally or physically attack their sibling is very upsetting and leaves us at a loss for what to do. Using the approach of developmental psychologist Dr. Gordon Neufeld, family therapist Cindy Leavitt uncovers the roots of competition, aggression, and impulsivity in our children and make sense of why sibling conflict is so prevalent. She offers insights both for handling incidents and then for achieving much deeper and long-lasting solutions. Includes examples, stories, and Q&A on applying the material to daily life with your children.
Insights and suggestions to help you:
* Unlock your children's capacity for self-control * Cultivate caring between your children * Know how and when to address problem behaviors * Handle incidents without harming relationships * Use structure and ritual to avoid unnecessary struggles * Avoid getting stuck in what doesn't work
PRESENTER Cindy Leavitt is a Faculty Member of the Neufeld Institute, a Certified Neufeld Parent Educator, Parent Consultant and Presenter, and is directly supervised by Dr. Gordon Neufeld, clinical and developmental psychologist and author of Hold on to Your Kids.
