IMANI JUNETEENTH BOOKFAIR OF Reformation Church-Chicago (IFAIR)
1. About Us
Kicking off on Thursday June 11, 7PM with a keynote address by Dr. Umar Johnson and continuing from Saturday, June 13 to Sunday, June 21, 2015, Reformation Church-Chicago (ELCA) will host its First Annual IMANI JUNETEENTH BOOK FAIR-"Not a date but a season."
IFAIR is an African American/African World book fair featuring Africana authors, book sellers and vendors, visual and performing artists, concerned clergy, laity and the general public all for celebrating the 150th anniversary of Juneteenth African American Freedom Day.
Juneteenth is a portmanteau (combined wording) of June and nineteenth. It is recognized as a state holiday or special day of observance in most states.
IFAIR is an awesome opportunity to buy Africana studies and culture books and support the cause of REFORMATION CHURCH-CHICAGO: "Help Save Our Historic Church!"
IFAIR is an outreach ministry of Reformation Church-Chicago aimed at promoting its annual book fair that will excite people of all ages about the joy of reading about Black history, she/heroes, and culture.
In addition to presenting the latest books on Africana history and culture, IFAIR raises funds to underwrite resources needed to "Help Save Our Historic Church" and advance its racial and social justice mission.
IFAIR presents an opportunity to encounter Africana history and culture books from a range of publishers. Supporters will find 1) paper back editions of Africana subject books they will want to read; 2) Hard cover books that will make wonderful gifts; 3) interactive materials from various publishers; and an opportunity to meet Africana authors and people of similar interests.
