Flamenco Roots
VivaFlamencoNJ joins forces with elements of East India to create a fabulous evening of song and dance at the intimate Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts in Maplewood.
Flamenco traces its earliest roots to India, the percussive resonance of feetwork, characteristic use of arms and hands and the atonal singing,all speak to an evolution of style and an expression of power.
Featuring flamenco master, Arturo Martinez ("El Espiritu Gitano")(guitar), Aurora Reyes,(cante), Ricardo Santiago (dance), Antonia Messina (dance), Mohini Tajeshwar (dance), Ranendra Das (tabla), and Marc Ferranti (flute). The evening will draw you into these two exotic cultures and leave you breathless.
