Director's Notes:
"Bye, Bye Birdie" was first performed on Broadway in 1960. Set in the same time period, it was inspired by the wildly popular Elvis Presley and his 1957 draft notice to go into the Army.
The early sixties were a very different time period in many ways, including the roles of men and women played in society and often how teens related to their parents and each other. -all without our modern day "necessities' like computers, internet, smart phones or even color television in most cases.
Our creative, talented cast has done a great job stepping back in time 55 years to give us a glimpse of what it was like to be a teenager or an adult as the country said goodbye to their favorite rock star.
