Stowe Prize 2015
As part of the Stowe Prize festivities, the Stowe Center will hold two public events at Immanuel Congregational Church. The events are free of charge thanks to The Hartford, Legacy Presenting Sponsor.
Inspiration to Action Fair (3-4 PM) A networking fair for Connecticut activists to share their ideas and strategies for social change. Participants range from high school and college student groups to grass roots community and educational organizations. A Conversation on Race with Ta-Nehisi Coates (4-5:30 PM) 2015 Stowe Prize winner Ta-Nehisi Coates, in conversation with John Dankosky of WNPR.
A discussion of Coates' call for a national conversation on the troubling and long-standing consequences of slavery, Jim Crow laws and housing discrimination in the U.S. Audience interaction encouraged. The program will be recorded for use by WNPR and the Stowe Center.

These free public events are followed by a ticketed event, The Big Tent Jubilee (6-9 PM on the Stowe Center Lawn) where Mr. Coates will be awarded the Stowe Prize for Writing to Advance Social Justice. The Big Tent Jubilee is a fundraising event supporting the Stowe Center's education programs for adults and children. More information: HarrietBeecherStowe.org.
