A Thread that Ties us All
A Thread That Ties Us All is a program of shared works by five female choreographers working across the country. Allison Brzezinski, Rainy Demerson, Megan Minturn, Marsha Parrilla, and Joya Powell investigate constrictive gender roles, unjust labor practices, collective action and police violence in original choreography that is both brazen and beautiful.
Allison Brzezinski/ChEckiT!Dance, Rainy Demerson/Nomadic Roots, Megan Minturn/MJM Dance, Marsha Parrilla/Danza Orgánica and Joya Powell/Movement of the People Dance Company: The companies of this explosive collective of choreographers have performed throughout NYC, nationally, and internationally including: Brazil, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Edinburgh, Senegal and Canada. Each choreographer uses multiple narratives to explore work that resonates viscerally and emotively. Individually they have produced various dance festivals in NYC, Boston, and St. Louis.
