KGNU LINX: C3 Event - My Mic Sounds Nice: A Truth About Women and Hip Hop
CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
KGnu Linx presents C3:
My Mic Sounds Nice: A Truth About Women and Hip Hop Ava DuVernay
BET and Forward Movement Films provides an overview on the role of female hip hop artists in the network's first original music documentary, MY MIC SOUNDS NICE: A TRUTH ABOUT WOMEN AND HIP HOP.
The hip-hop industry has long been a boy's club that's often called misogynistic and violent. Yet the heyday of hip-hop was quite a different environment where "the ladies" were just as likely to be fierce on the mic and inspiring to their fans and fellow emcees. This documentary explores the history and the legacy of the women who helped invent and nurture the Hip-Hop genre with insights from artists including Mc Lyte, Roxanne Shante, Queen Latifah, Monie Love, Yo Yo, Eve, Salt-N-Pepa, Missy Elliot and many more
