Rahim AlHaj in Concert featuring Issa Malluf and Zack Kear
Iraqi oud virtuoso, composer, 2-time Grammy nominee, Rahim AlHaj will present an intimate concert of his original music featuring Middle Eastern percussionist Issa Malluf and ney (Arabic reed flute) player Zack Kear.
The consummate musician, Rahim is recognized as one of the world's great oudists. His compositions display soulful depth and emotion, evoking the experiences of exile and new beginnings. His performances are mesmerizing, inspired, thought-provoking, passionate, presenting everything that makes a transcendent concert: virtuosity, accomplished repertoire, extraordinary aesthetic, heartfelt rapport with his audience. He has performed on concert stages and festivals around the world.
Rahim is joined by his regular percussionist Palestinian-American Issa Malluf, who has also performed with likes of Indian sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan and indie-world music outfit A Hawk and A Hacksaw.
Rahim's Middle Eastern ensemble is rounded out by composer and multi-instrumentalist Zack Kear. While Zack's main instruments are the piano, harpsichord and synthesizer, he also plays the Western concert flute, Middle-Eastern ney flute, recorder, harp, and percussion.
