Go Big & Go Big Project Presents: Climbing With a Co-Pilot
Climbers and aviators have at least one thing in common: they must both often make complex decisions in a high-risk environment where a single mistake can be fatal. Over the past few decades, the airline industry has developed a set of communication tools to help prevent deadly human errors. But these tools aren't just useful in the cockpit - they can help climbers deal with dangerous situations in the mountains as well. This workshop explores these communication principles and how climbers can apply them to make their sport a little safer.
The workshop presenter is Julian Pridmore-Brown. Julian comes from a background of risk assessment and training in the airplane industry and is a FAA Designated pilot examiner. Julian is also and huge back country skier with a background in rock climbing.
This workshop is presented by the Go Big & Go Home Project. Our mission is to save lives by engaging the climbing community on a technical and human level with an emphasis on group dynamics and the human aspects of decision making in the vertical realm. We'll do this by actively engaging the climbing community with speakers and workshops that force people to reassess their systems, how they make decisions, and how they interact with groups in high stress situations.
