Poet and memoirist MARK DOTY - winner of the National Book Award for Poetry, the LA Times Book Prize, a Whiting Writers Award, two Lambda Literary Awards, National Book Critcs Circle Award and the PEN/Martha Albrand Award for First Nonfiction - is a celebrated voice in literature today. He is the only American poet to have received the T.S. Eliot Prize in the U.K., has received fellowships from the Guggenheim, Ingram Merrill and Lila Wallace/Readers Digest Foundations, and from the National Endowment for the Arts. Mr. Doty's memoir, Dog Years, was a NY Times best-seller in 2007.
Since 1982 SOJOURN CHAPLAINCY has practiced the mission described in its name "to stay with for a time." We provide a ministry of presence offering compassion and understanding to the patients, their loved ones, and the staff of San Francisco General Hospital & Trauma Center. Sojourn also serves as a chaplaincy training center providing pastoral care training to lay and clergy persons.
