Scene Bootcamp
Whether you're writing fiction or creative nonfiction, your building blocks are scenes. In this workshop, you will work on creating and revising scenes that capture the reader's interest.
On Saturday 7 March, we will meet from 12-4 pm for an intensive review of how to write effective scenes, with many new writing exercises. You will leave with a draft scene from one of your existing pieces. You may want to bring the piece with you for reference. At home, you will polish your scene and send to the group.
On the following four Wednesdays (11, 18 & 25 March and 1 April) we will meet from 7-9 pm for additional writing exercises and critiques of participants' scenes. Everyone's scene will be critiqued at least twice, giving you a chance to revise the scene based on comments received.
Reserve your place! Registration deadline is March 5. Free parking for this event in the lot across the street.
The workshop will be led by Barbara Morrison, who writes under the name B. Morrison. She is the author of a memoir, Innocent: Confessions of a Welfare Mother, and two poetry collections, Terrarium and Here at Least. Barbara's award-winning work has been published in anthologies and magazines. For more information, visit her website and blog at http://bmorrison.com/
