Sonoma County's solid waste system is undergoing dramatic changes with little public attention. This month's presentation by Ken Wells will:

with the upcoming transfer of the operations of the
County's solid waste system to Republic Services.
* Cover CALGreen local waste recycling
requirements/regulations - the implementation
differences in Sonoma County's cities.
* Describe the various opportunities to recycle
waste materials in Sonoma County.

About Ken Wells:
In 1992, after ten years as an environmental engineering consultant, Ken Wells was hired to be the first Executive Director of the Sonoma County Waste Management Agency and, concurrently, Integrated Waste Manager for the Sonoma County Department of Transportation and Public Works, where he led Sonoma County's solid waste, composting and recycling programs until his retirement in 2008.
Ken is currently an Independent Sustainability Consultant with expertise in recycling, composting, solid waste management, greenhouse gas emissions and renewable energy production. He assists local recycling companies with advancing recycling efforts and their communications with public agencies.
