New York Times bestselling author Erik Larson is known for expertly transporting readers to past worlds. With his remarkable new work of nonfiction, Dead Wake, he ushers us aboard the Lusitania as it begins its tragic and final crossing. It is a timely trip, as 2015 marks the 100th anniversary of the disaster. Join us for Mr. Larson's only Connecticut appearance!
Like his monumental In the Garden of Beasts, Dead Wake is a captivating book that is rich in atmosphere. Thrillingly told and full of surprises, it captures the sheer drama and emotional power of a disaster whose intimate details and true meaning have long been obscured in the mists of history.
'Factual and personal to a high degree, the narrative reads like a grade-A thriller.' Starred review, Booklist
'Once again, Larson transforms a complex event into a thrilling human interest story. This suspenseful account will entice readers of military and maritime history along with lovers of popular history.' Starred review, Library Journal
