The Weirdo Show presents: New Friends!
Its the brand new year! With this brand new year, we here at the Weirdo Show have invited all new friends! People we have been trying to get on our stage for months and people who we met and realized that they fill the empty gap in the Weirdo Show pantheon. And our hearts. Lets see who will entertain this month!
After losing his family fortune investing in Macarena futures, songwriter extraordinaire Jonas Tavela went on a twenty year spiritual journey that started with partaking in the Ayahuasca and Red Bull ceremony and ended with him covered in green vomit in the basement of some Dartmouth fraternity. The songs of Jonas have the power to move audiences out of the theaters. His songs have been performed on the same planet as Mozart, Sinatra and Hitler and he could really use a hug.
No quiet suburb of Indianapolis could hold her... Dr. Torcher fled to seek an academic's life, stripping her way through school to become an anthropologist, unraveling the world's bizarre and taboo. But it was her matriculation at Oddity U with Harley Newman where she developed her appetite for fire and straitjacketry. She's performed comedy at DC Improv, the Source Theater and been an audience assistant for tricks on stage in Las Vegas with Cirque du Soleil's Zumanity and Penn & Teller. This is her debut sideshow performance.
Karen Beriss has been a professional magician for nearly 20 years. Performing at trade shows around the world, her magic and dry sense of humor - combined with corporate messaging skills - have captured the eyes of the press including National Public Radio, Market Place and The Wall Street Journal. She feels honored to be a member of The Big Apple Circus Clown Care program performing at Johns Hopkins Children's Center in Baltimore., MD and Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC. Karen is a co-producer of DC's Clown Cabaret, a monthly showcase of Clown in Washington DC. Karen is a regular at The Comedy Zone in Washington DC, and has performed at the Kennedy Center, National Theater and a variety of other spots from large to small theaters. She trained in improv and acting with Second City in New York. And she has performed for celebrities such as Johnny Depp, Kirstie Alley, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, the Washington Capitals and Robert Goulet. And for what it's worth, Karen's mom thinks she's funny.
Eyrie Twylite Twilight is the Queen of Halloween with a shimmy that can only be described as an "experience". She titillates as she teases, putting a spooky twist on classic and neo burlesque concepts with opulent and innovative costuming. Be sure to feast your eyes on miss Eyrie Twilight when she steams up a revue near you!
Fox Squire, a New York City drag king, is the "twin brother" of the one and only Foxy Squire. He was birthed from Foxy's need for a male character while performing at Matthew Silver's Circus of Dreams. Fox established himself after doing the Dapper Spring photoshoot with Marico Fayre Photography and received overwhelmingly supportive reviews. His official debut was at Crimson Kitty's SWITCH located at Bizarre Bar. This year, he will compete in World Famous Bob's DRAG RACE. With his signature fox pinky ring and dapper swagger, he will entertain the world one show at a time.
Sean Dougherty is a Washington DC funnyman. Having pursued standup comedy at a younger age, he is seeking to return to its stage and felt that there is o better place than to do it at The Weirdo Show!
This going to be a helluva a show to start off the new year! More talented performers than you could shake a stick at, more laughs than a barrelful of monkeys, and more fun than should be at the price we are selling it at, we cant wait to see you at this month's Weirdo Show!
