Hope on the Ground: A community conversation in honor of World AIDS Orphans Day
The Portland Area Global AIDS Coalition along with OHSU Global Health Center, University of Oregon and other important community partners will host an information fair and a panel discussion and reception in honor of World AIDS Orphans Day on May 7th from 6 to 9pm at the White Stag Building in NW Portland. Join us as we hear from individuals and organizations working on the ground worldwide on the tough issues surrounding orphans.
The event will feature a keynote address by Anne-christine d'Adesky, AIDS Activist, Journalist for World Pulse and documentary filmaker.
Our moderator will be Charlene McGee of the African Woman's Coalition.
Panelists include: Teresa Gipson, M.D., Family Practice Medicine, OHSU; Founder of Ray of Hope International.
Doug Lyon, Director, Health Unit, Mercy Corps.
Kathleen Maloney-Dunn, JD, Adjunct Professor for the International Human Rights Law Clinic, Willamette University Law School; Former Visiting Professional, International Criminal Court, The Hague, Netherlands.
Sequence of Events: 6pm-6:30pm-- Information Fair: local and international organizations will be on-site providing information, showcasing materials, and offering opportunities for involvement. This is also an opportunity to network and speak with panelists and community partners.
6:30-7:40pm-- Keynote Address, Panel Presentation and Audience Question and Answer Period: Hear from our distinguished speakers and ask questions to help shape the conversation.
7:40-9:00pm-- Reception: Hors d'oeuvres and wine provided.
