Sphoorti (Sanskrit word for "Inspiration") is an innovative, five star children's home in Hyderabad India, founded by Srivyal Vuyyuri. They employ a well-researched arts-based educational approach to teach children in a way that not only improves intellectual growth, but emotional growth as wellwhich is particularly needed for children who have led impoverished lives. The mission of this fundraising effort is to raise funds to support Sphoorti's blossoming Visual and Performing Arts Program and construct an Art Center where creative activities can take place and enhance the lives and spirits of these children daily.
In celebration of our fundraising effort's we will have our own "Evening of Inspiration" starting with the tour de force, Academy Award sweeping movie, "Slumdog Millionaire" which tackles the stories of three children coming from the slumsthe same population we are helping.
We will then have our senses stimulated by the visual art of Live Art Fusion Artists painting to Live Music in the garden of the Cinema Arts Center and the Sky Room, with all Art being on a Silent Auction.
The Sky Room itself will be transformed into a gallery with art from some of the best artists from Long Island and New York City, including art from the Art League of Long Island, RIPE Art Gallery and the Creative Arts Studio of Sea Cliff. The Live Art Fusion Artists and the Gallery Artists are donating 50%-100% of their proceeds to the Art Center Benefit. There is a silent Auction to bid on the artwork throughout the night, with a named price that will allow you to buy on the spot.
Dinner will be served from the amazing restaurants, Kiran Palace, Copper Wok, Compari and Perfecto Mundo and a LIVE Q&A with the founder of Sphoorti and it's lovely children.
We are proud to present as a headliner musician for the night, internationally acclaimed sitarist, Indro Roy-Chowdhury accompanied by Nitin Mitta, virtuoso tabla player. Artists will be painting to the classical concert as well. See where this magical night of creativity and inspiration will take you!
