Idlewild Music Fest
JAZZ, BLUES, R&B & GOSPEL MUSIC - 3 AWESOME DAYS The Fest is held to commemorate and celebrate the history of well known African-American entertainers and professionals who owned property and performed at the Historic Resort prior to the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Known as the "Black Eden", this location was one of the few resorts in the United States where African-Americans could vacation and purchase property. The National Resource Team applauds the Idlewild community for holding on to the land; approximately 3,000 acres. It is historically, the largest land based African American resort ever assembled in the USA. Idlewild is a rare and valuable national resource with physical and cultural significance. During the three (3) day Music Fest we will feature both world-renowned artist and talented local/regional musicians. T. ROSE Inc. in partnership with Lake County Merry Makers, Inc. a 501c3 non-profit organization have collaborated to bring forth a fabulous musical weekend. Honoring the Past, Standing in the Present, looking toward the Future.
Friday Night - Opening Night begins with Soul, Jazz and Blues artists: Dee Lucas, Urban Jazz Coalition, Althea Rene and more.
Saturday brings a full day of music with guest artists: Paul Dozier, Marqueal Jordan, NuEra, Paula Atherton, Kimmie Horne, Margaret Bell and Angela Winbush.
