DIRECT FROM HAVANA, CUBA: David Calzado Y Su Charanga Habanera in San Francisco!

Cuba's #1 hottest band, David Calzado Y Su Charanga Habanera, including 19 of Havana's best conservatory-trained musicians, is finally coming to the U.S. after a nearly ten-year absence. Their performances are known to be high-energy, dynamic, and unforgettable, and since this is Charanga's first concert in the USA in almost 10 years, this will be Historical & HUGE!!!
~ with DJ Walt Digz (SF) and DJ Melao (Miami), as well as an Afro-Cuban rumba with local Cuban musicians and dancers, including Erick Barberia and Sandy Perez Y Su Lade. ~

They have shared the stage with internationally renowned figures such as Stevie Wonder, Donna Summer, Barry White, James Brown, Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Jerry Lewis, Kool and the Gang and Whitney Houston.
This group has toured Japan, Europe, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, U.S., and Northern Africa, and performed at important stages like Campanille Festival (Italy), Pacific Fair (Peru), Hard Rock (Mexico), among others.
In 2003, La Charanga Habanera was nominated to the Latin Grammy Awards with the CD "Live in the USA".
This popular band has also won awards at Cubadiscos and Lucas events.

Charanga Habanera just came off of a European tour during which it played to sold-out crowds, and they are now scheduled for shows in Miami because of changed U.S. policy toward Cuba... BUT... We are bringing them for a Bay Area show even before the Miami shows! This will be a historical event not to be missed, and San Francisco is the perfect location for such an event. Aside from San Francisco's legendary liberal views, including the desire to end the embargo against Cuba for many Bay Area liberals, the SF area is also host to a large community of Cuban music afficionados and events. We have a large community of Cuban salsa and Afro-Cuban dancers, dance groups, teachers, and musicians, as well as several SF-based Cuban salsa bands, Cuban music Djs, Cuban salsa parties, and and regular nightclub events. San Francisco is known to be the best place to dance to Cuban music in the entire United States. In addition, we host a Cuban salsa dancing festival, which is one of our sponsors.
