Winner of the International Critics Award at the Toronto International Film Festival and both the Bodil and Robert awards for Best Danish Film, Open Hearts (Elsker dig for evigt) became praised for its performances that capture the experiences of trauma on two couples' lives. Mads Mikkelsen (TV's Hannibal, Casino Royal) stars as the surgeon Niels whose wife, Marie, hits a young man Joachim with her car. At the hospital, Niels falls in love with Joachim's wife Ceilie. As the lives of these two couples entangle through the tragedy of the accident and resulting adultery, Open Hearts (Elsker dig for evigt) crafts a portrait of the ramifications of the seemingly uncontrolled forces in our lives.
