As his 50th birthday approaches, Juergen Kotschie seems to have everything a man can ask for: a house, a beautiful wife, a son, success, money, and admiring colleagues. But with his mid-century pressing upon him, he lies awake tormented with sleepless contemplation and confusion about the circumstances of his life. It all begins to unhinge and the banalities of every-day-life become surreal, complete with fantastic images set to a capella Baroque music. An insightful treat.
The film was awarded with Best Production, Kinofest Lnen 2009. Baumgartens LIBERATED ZONE was shown at Berlin & Beyond in 2004.
