MOZART AND THE VOICE Opera arias for tenor and soprano voices Hélène Brunet, soprano, Philippe Gagné, tenor and 7 instrumentalists
With its rich inspiration, melodic beauty, and dramatic expression, Mozart's vocal art transcended its roots in the Italian bel canto style of his day; and in the great operas of his maturity, he attained rarely matched psychological truth. This concert presents a selection, spanning the composer's entire career, of his beautiful arias for soprano and tenor, with the chamber ensemble playing deftly adapted versions of the original orchestral accompaniments.
The composers: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791), Joseph Haydn (1732-1809), Johann Christian Bach (1735-1782)
The artists: Hélène Brunet, soprano and Philippe Gagné, tenor. Francis Colpron, classical flute, Matthew Jennejohn, classical oboe, Olivier Brault and Tanya LaPerrière, violins, Jacqueas-André Houle, viola, Amanda Keesmaat, violoncello, Francis Palma-Pelletier, violone.
