Essential Jazz is made up of 16 singers, 5 combo members, and our sound professional.  The singers' end is made up of many local choir educators and other stand-out singers, often former singers of the choir directors of the group.  The combo is made up of outstanding performing musicians and educators from the Treasure Valley.  Essential Jazz comes together with a love for the beauty and power of music, and the message shared through music.  As their debut performance was in the stunning Sapphire Room in May 2013, they are delighted to return for this great evening.

The Van Paepeghem Quartet includes guitarist Quinn Van Paepeghem (founding member of the Jazz Guys from Bend, Oregon and choral director at Boise State University), bassist Mike Seifrit (a member of Onomatopia and many other Boise valley bands, former touring bassist for artists such as Rick Springfield, Three Dog Night and Tina Turner), drummer Patrick Kurdy (founding member of Onomatopia as well as many other Boise bands and is current president of the Idaho Jazz Society). The band is fronted by the silky vocals of Shirley Van Paepeghem (Also a founding member of the Jazz Guys from Bend, Oregon and director of music for grades K - 12 at North Star Charter School in Eagle, Idaho).
