Highlights:
In what seems like record time, Rochester-favorite Ulysses Owens has broken into the pentacle of the most in-demand jazz drummers today.   The list of group leaders who regularly vie for his accompaniment reads like the "Who Who" of future Jazz Masters  Christian McBride, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Russell Malone and Mulgrew Miller (his recently deceased mentor) to name a few.  Owens' popularity speaks to the range and appropriateness of his fire and finesse; his ability to subtly comp his band mates and then command their up-tempo responses with equally appropriate intensity.

Owens' upcoming Exodus To Jazz engagement will be a Valentine's Day tribute to "Love".  Returning with him are pianist Christian Sands and altoist Jaleel Shaw,  both of whom impressed during their last Exodus To Jazz appearances  Christian Sands and Jaleel Shaw with the Ulysses Owens led group that featured Christian McBride; Jaleel Shaw most recently with Tom Harrell's "Colors of a Dream" ensemble.

Owens' remaining "Friends" include Rochester native, trumpeter Mike Cattone, whose local popularity is fueled by stellar musicianship not merely hometown ties.  Owing to his commitment to give Western New York jazz fans a memorial Valentine's Day experience, bassist Yasushi Nakamura and vocalist Brianna Thomas round out Owens' "Friends".
Like the other members of the ensemble, Nakamura and Thomas are rapidly becoming          bright spots on the national / international jazz radar screen.

Add "Ulysses Owens Jr & Friends" to your upcoming Valentine's Day plans to make it a
Very Special Day!
