Sacred Songs from a Sacred Land-CD Release Event by ASERELA Maine Youth Chor
With festive singing, dancing and food, this holiday event expands upon ASERELA's annual Christmas concert to showcase the collaborative efforts of ASERELA Maine Youth Chorus and local percussion and vocal ensemble Inanna, Sisters in Rhythm. Funded by a grant from the Maine Community Foundation, the CD "Sacred Songs from a Sacred Land" documents the vibrant musical heritage of Portland's Sudanese refugee community. Proceeds from ticket sales and sale of the CD will benefit ASERELA's continuing charitable work in war-torn southern Sudan, principally, ASERELA's second elementary school construction project in Kit, Sudan.
