Gualala Arts Presents: Renata Yardumian piano recital: The music of Richard Yardumian on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. at the Gualala Arts Center, as part of the Armenian Cultural Festival.
Richard Yardumian 1917 - 1985.
Renata Yardumian will perform piano music composed by Richard Yardumian between the years 1942 and 1946 and will also perform a transcription of his orchestral work, Armenian Suite, arranged for piano in 1999 by the composer Ofer Ben-Amots as a tribute to the late Richard Yardumian.
Renata was born and raised in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania and had her first instruction in music from her father Richard Yardumian. She studied piano privately with Eleanor Sokolof and theory and composition with the composer and fine artist, Timothy Greatbatch.
Renata majored in music at Temple University in Philadelphia and completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at Sonoma State University after moving to the west coast. She is currently the director of the Coastal Singers, a community based chorus with membership extending from Sea Ranch to Point Arena.
Tickets are $15 in advance and include a drink and small plate of traditional Armenian food. $5 more day of event, if available. Youth 7-17 free.
